Description: ..showing well indeed! No cloud and no wind. 5 images from last night thrown together in PS this morning. My first time at one of these - interesting challenge with exposure near to the full eclipse and how fast that lump of rock moves across the sky!

Mac's Truck

Description: Wandering around Key West and found this 'truck' outside the front of Mac's Sea Garden store...decided that it didn't really qualify as transport anymore and should be relegated to the miscellaneous bucket! Also, I rediscovered the joy of 'point and squirt' photography - it gave a real sense of freedom!

Fallen colour

Description: The fall colour in New England has been a bit odd - after a dry summer it started well but the weather warmed up again and caused the change to stall...the leaves seem to have now decided to just go brown and fall off. I am just back having spent the weekend in Maine with some excellent nature photographers - although the weather and colour was not it's best, we tried to make the most of it.

Description: Similar to the European species. It popped up in front of my hide, with the last rays of sun thorugh the trees just hitting it, so I couldn't resist a couple of shots.

Description: Just a tomato ;) I know some won't like the 2 light source thing going on here - I was playing with the amount of visible depth or '3d-ness' by shifting lights around my macro-box...probably over cooked it a bit though.

Description: This is a work in progress - another random thought, inspired by Konstantin Sutyagin's breakfast images. I was really just trying out the concept today. I need to clean the pot and add a bigger white reflector above to outline more of the top of pot. Once I have the lighting finished it will be easier - I won't have to keep moving to chimp! Any thoughts and ideas appreciated!

Description: I seem to have been cursed with clear sunrise/sunset skies for most of my trips away this year but dawn in the desert remains a fantastic experience - if a little early in the morning. The pre-dawn air is cool and the animals quiet as you wait for the sun to start its ascent over the eastern mountains. Even on the driest mornings with no clouds in sight, the dust in the air causes the first light from the sun to glow a fabulous, vibrant orange that smoothly transitions into the deep blue of the fading night sky. But with clear skies, look the other way and the pink 'Belt of Venus' slowly moves across the sky between the growing blue sky of the new day and the fading deep blue from the Earth's shadow.

Description: In true Mac vs PC style, here is a 'response' to Stephen's gorgeous Macbook shot (featured on the screen). Not that it is a very nice laptop, just the only one I have! Only real difference to the original is that I used the actual screen rather than cheating/adding a screen grab afterwards in PS ;) ;) I don't actually think it is cheating, just really wanted to check that my thoughts would work...of course, using a screenshot gives a much crisper result :)

Description: As I sat still, this Great Egret approached and walked past me very close. Getting so close and watching birds with the naked eye was one of the real joys in Florida. Hand-held, minor crop, normal adjustments.

Description: This is the last shot in a sequence that started with the bird filling the frame...as I crouched down to get 'eye to eye', it started walking towards me...I backed away first! Hand-held, not cropped, normal minor adjustments.
