Canon 7d owners

To owners of the Canon 7d - can you tell me please, if when the camera is set to centre AF point, can you get the red light to come on to light up inside the viewfinder when the subject is in focus? It seems to come up only when it's dark. My 50d comes up all the time and I find it reasurring to see the light and hear the beep at the same time.

Thanks

Found it in case anyone else wants to know: Menu, C.Fn III, Number 8. Set to enable so it shows up all the time and not auto.

What RAW convertor are people using pleasewith 7D

I can get Elements 7 put on my PC but believe I will need a convertor to bridge the gap.

Thanks in advance

Adobe 5.5 will do it, or the latest one out, just go to "downloads" on Adobe and get the latest one.
I also see that on earlier Adobe elements and P-shop they now will not support the latest RAW converters.
So any new camera owners will have to buy the latest version of elements or P-shop  But you could use loads of other software and then use your old programme when converted.
regards
Richard

I use Canon's DPP to convert my 7D RAW's Mike. After converting I send to CS4 as a 16 bit tiff for finishing.
Although DPP is very limited as a complete editing tool I find it better than ACR and other converters that I have tried for the conversion.
The only time I convert my RAW's in Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) is when I have screwed up the exposure and need to recover highlights - ACR is much better than DPP at this IMO.

The latest version of ACR that Photoshop Elements 7 supports is Adobe Camera Raw 5.7, ACR 5.7 supports the 7D. You can install ACR 5.7 by following the instructions on this page:
