Anyone know about the history of arcade/amusement photos?

Hi all,
I am researching the history of arcade/amusement photos that were quite popular in the 1920's - 1940's. You know, the places we went to put on costumes and have a photo taken. They were sometimes put on postcard stock.

If anyone can point me in the right direction to find out a little about the history of these type of photos I would greatly appreciate it.

Kind regards,
Keith

Image research.

The National Monuments Record based in Swindon, Wiltshire, U.K. now administered by English Heritage, has a good number of images taken of side shows at fairs from the 1900s. They show both the stands and the public and there might be clues to establish both period and the type of display that was popular with the public.
