Close Up Filters

Anyone use these with good results? I got some today off of ebay and paid £10 for a set of +1, +2, +4 and +10 filters.

Just wondered if anybody had any tips on how to get the best out of them, if that's not a strange question. :o I've never used them before and did have difficulty focusing with a couple of the lower magnification ones, so I just ended up using the +10 filter.

Hi Sally, I have some and have used them quite successfully - you do have to be careful with focus though as I find you end up with a very narrow depth of field. This makes a steady tripod an essential for me.

Was thinking of getting some myself, have you got a link. You'll have to post some pics when you've had a play.

Check out Ros's gallery. All the pics with DIY closeup are using these. I cannot remember what dioptre they are.

The DIY bit is because these were from my Bronica days so they are a larger diameter than Ros's lens and I had to make an adaptor for them to fit. A lens hood is pretty much essential to cut down flare. For Ros I used the end of a flowerpot :).
