Black and white for newborns
I read in a Sony ad yesterday that black and white often works for newborns.
I have never tried this and wondered if anyone has any strong views, for or against? |
No hard and fast rules, sometimes it works well sometimes not. Take the shot in colour then process the shot in colour and black and white then compare and decide which you prefer for that particular shot.

Black and white works very well for portraiture, but is dependent on good lighting to bring out form and texture in the image. Colour perhaps gives you a little more latitude, as you can use it to add visual interest in another way. Horses for courses, as Mike suggests.

Of course colour is better for baby shots - blue for boys, pink for girls - how else will the viewer know the sex of the baby?

When done well B&W is great for most subjects, don't see why it should be different for babies!

I don't think so that black and white work for newborns. color is perfect choice rather then back and white because it give more latitude to image.
