Photoshop CS6

Hi all, Adobe Photoshop CS6 beta has been posted - Download is almost 1 Gb. I am in the process of downloading it and will report back as soon as possible. First reports are very encouraging.

Hi Andy.

I downloaded it earlier today, so have time to play around a little, so far apart from the inteface which I do like, I've seen nothing that would make me think about upgrading.

Still it's early days yet and obviously there are areas I've not played about with yet.

It would seem that apart from the cosmetic side of things you need to dig deep to see any benefits if your only interest is photography.

Andy, you may find this of some interest. A series of videos on CS6 by Deke McClelland

Thanks Harry I saw thee videos - here are two attachments - original taken with 15 mm Fisheye Nikkor - 2nd after treatment in CS6 using the new fisheye adjustment - took seconds compared with CS5 and the new crop tool is a gem.:)

Andy, Using Lightroom I'm used to the crop tool, but must admit that second photo (once you get your head around the perspective) is something special.

I was playing with the Content Aware move tool last night. It has a few flaws but works very well in certain circumstances.

Example attached. the sand racer was one of a series, in this particular frame the rider was heading out of the frame on the right hand side a perfect photo for trying out the move tool.

One or two minor problems which could easily be corrected using a little more care/practice and such as the clone tool.

I like the interface and it's much faster than CS5, but the upgrade will have to be priced similar to Lightroom for me to upgrade.

Harry, that's an excellent result - In CS5 I always found that you needed a simple picture for Content Aware fill to work - ie: a background that was not very complex. The new Content Aware fill and Move are still not perfect, but are a tremendous improvement - and once the final version is posted then perhaps....?
