Thinking of down sizing?

I'm possibly thinking of down sizing my camera, I've enjoyed using my recently purchased Nikon D5000 but I'm mostly a birder who likes to take snapshots of my humble travels ....with only occasionally deviations trying for something a bit more serious and arty!! I don't like having both binoculars and SLR hanging around my neck and really want something small enough to slip into a shirt pocket.

So, pressuming I could get a good price for my Nikon what sort of compact travel camera should I look at and from what brand? Budget I guess would be around the £200ish mark.

Cheers

Matt

I'd go with a Canon IXUS compact then. Canon compacts imo outclass nearly everything out there in ease of use and quality.

I use a LUMIX DMC-ZX1 and am very happy with it.

girlfriend has a lumix we bought in kuala lumpa. We bought it because it had a wide angle lens so we could get all of the petronis towers into a picture, which we did. It has some great scene modes but lacks any manual control. very compact though with a nice big lcd screen.

You could look at the Samsung WB500 prices at the moment about £160 you can read a review from http://www.cameras.co.uk/reviews/samsung-wb500.cfm

The wife has a lumix TZ5 which is very good if you can live without all the manual overrides. Much better in high iso than my FZ30 which I still love.

Was out on a field trip the other week and it looked like everyone was carrying a lumix of one type or another.

A little too big & more than you want to pay but DSLR ish only not a big. If you find you want more than a compact. I use a Lumix G1 and am very happy with it.
