B&W and the R2400 Printer

I have recently acquired an Epson R2400 Printer. I want to have a go at B&W and as you know, it is necessary to change the photo gloss black cartridge for the photo mat black cartridge. To do this on a regular basis is going to use a lot of ink during the flushing out cycle; so I am reluctant to do it. I had a word with one of the Epson technical advisers who said that no flushing is necessary but put some sticky tape over the nozzles on the cartridge which is not in use to prevent drying out. I should be grateful to anyone who can offer advice based on their own experiences with this printer. Kind regards,

John.

I haven't got this printer but a few guys in my club have and I've spoken to the guys at Permajet about thier continuous ink systems.

My understanding is that you change the cartridge acording to the media you are printing on - Matt ink for art media and Photo ink for gloss and semi-gloss, rather than whether you are printing in colour or B&W

Thank you for that Clive. I have been toying with the idea of making most of my prints on Mat paper; perhaps that is the answer to not changing my black cartridge too often.
