"Standbye" mode

For the newer photographers who are learning, I will pass on a tip given to me 40 odd years ago by an old pro newspaper photographer that has stood me in good stead over the years.
"Always leave your camera on aperture priority, f 4.5, ISO 400 and 50mm" then if something suddenly shows up you can get a reasonable image then adjust the settings to how you want them. Over the years this has got me some good images I would have missed if I had had to adjust before I could shoot.

Good advise. AP is sure the way to go and your secrete starting point, makes a lot of sense. All that is now need in part of novice photographer; "Get out and put the knowledge to the hardest task of all - Trial n Errors".
