Can anyone put names of photographer and subjects in this image?

Thank you.

I'll guess at:

Queen Victoria with her five eldest children. From the right: Vicky (future Empress of Germany and Prussia), Bertie (future King Edward VII of England), Alfred (future Duke of Endinburgh and Saxe-Coburg Gotha), Helena (future Princess Helena of Schleswig-Holstein) and Alice (future Grand Duchess of Hesse-Darmstadt).

Am I right?

First assumption

Thank you Kwanon, that was also what I assumed initially. But Queen Victoria was fully acquainted with the camera and would probably have wanted to be seen full face to be associated with her children.
I am wondering if the fact the adult is not showing her face is because she is a nanny or governess.
The shape of the bag replicates the shape of a sporran and might show a Scottish connection, it could also represent the fact that the young lady has recently become a teenager and is proud of her gift.
It is most likely of a high status family because it is obvious from the pose and attitude of the elder boy that he knows he will inherit everything as feels to be the most important person in the group.
The way I have received this image suggests it is available somewhere on the web but so far my image searches have not produced a result.
However, thank you for your response, it is much appreciated and if I get a result I will let you know.

All I did was Google it.

That's great.

Obviously you are better at it than I am. I was probably using too complicated search terms.
Can you tell me what terms you used or the URL of the image?

Regards, T.

Image search

Hi, I found the image at this site.
Once you had given me your thoughts, that it was Queen Victoria's children, I googled that, rather than trying to find it as 'Victorian photographs' in Google images.
No prize I am afraid but go to the top of the class.

kwanon 08-03-13 20:25

All I did was google the actual mage.

tebbuch 09-03-13 07:49

very interesting!

Thank you Kwanon. That response is very interesting because you are suggesting a method that actually used the image to search for it.
A tutorial please.

Respects, T.
