Giving Something Back

I'm looking to give something back to the photography community by sharing (for free) the skills & knowledge I have gained over the years, both with the camera, and digital post processing skills & techniques.

I'm not sure whether this might be via a youtube channel, lectures or workshops to local schools or colleges, mentoring & coaching, online training

I'd welcome forum members thoughts on where to start & what might be the best way to go about this, be that one of the suggestions above, or something different

Youtube is very rewarding in every way. Though you may think it is saturated, there is a lot that can be done, specially if author is first "Right to the point", then regularly available to answer and coach those who have a problem and leave questions. Once you develop enough visitors and subscribers, you can harvest some profit from ads too.

Why not try YouTube first and ask for comments? Like was it clear, simple to follow, is it pitched at the right level. That sort of thing.
Then you would have a grounding if you wanted to go on to lectures, schools etc. Plus you could show your YouTube to get the bookings.
I know from giving "lectures" at a camera club. It's not enough for you to know the subject. You have to find the way to teach it that fits your students. Wish you all the best.

I've just finished a 6 week photography course, I've been to quite a few over the years but for some reason this one just clicked with me! The guy encouraged me to use Manual Mode and now instead of avoiding f numbers with shutter speed info and breaking away from AV - I am looking for that info. You may wish to hold a workshop in your area or some of the photographers here hold outdoor workshops each with about 4 people and these are well attended. Whatever you do hope it all works out for you.

Well done Marydoll. Some times it a matter of finding the right teacher.
