Print size questions

Hi guys

Been looking into getting some prints done. My question is, do i need to resize the images when i send them to an online printer, or will they do it for me? If for instance i wanted to print at 9x6 inches how would i resize for this?

Also can anyone recomend a good online printer, i have used tesco before and the prints were awful.

I don't think photos would be resized at all, send them the full file.

I get my 120 & 35mm film developed at Club 35 which has an affiliate for digital printing called Digitalab (google it). The service they do on film is pretty damn good and good value so I assume the digital printing section is of similar calibre.

For most situations, I use Photobox
http://www.photobox.co.uk/
You do not need to resize when sending files to them, as Alex say, you're best off sending the full size, max resolution image.
For really, really critical work i use proam imaging
http://www.proamimaging.com/
These people do not have an online upload service, you have to send them the files on CD, and you have to resize and follow their image preparation instructions very carefully. It sounds daunting, but isn't really, it just takes a bit more time. The service is slower than photobox, the effort you have to put in is greater, but the results are really very good, especially their mono prints.

Thank you thats very helpful....what do you normally set the dpi too? do you leave it whatever the camera shot in or change it to say 300 like i've been told is best?

For printing via photobox I set it to 300 dpi. For printing via proam I set it to the specific figure given in the instructions. Can't rmember precisely what this is but it's something odd like 308 dpi.
