Peter I think Robski birdsnapper are right.Full Sensor (FF) 1:1 as 35mm used to be, cropped on DSLR 1.5 or 1.6 X the focal length on small sensor the factor is much larger giving a multiplying factor...

Images on my 450d are sharper with RAW than JPEG not all cameras are the same and also depends how you look at them through what pc/tv screen or printer and software and at what resolution.

I took some pics of the moon you dont really need any tripod because the moon is very bright and if its of the moon only not moonlight on somthing else
you need manual exposure of about F8 1/200 sec...
