Default Muddy Waters

I don’t mean to muddy the waters any further but:

Personally I don’t have a problem with Picture of the Week, the way it is chosen by the moderators, or the lack of any qualifying criteria for choosing it. Qualifying why you like a picture is not the easiest thing to do.

Dons’ thread, “Personal Current Gallery Favourite” whereby it gives individual members the opportunity to select their favourite picture, and state why, if they feel inclined to do so, doesn’t actually show any visibility to which pictures are being chosen and how popular they are, without trawling through the thread and counting them.

Solution:

All members are allowed one vote (vote is not the right term) one selection in a 7 day window.
The 7 day window would run from Midnight Sunday to Midnight Sunday.
Selections are made via the Gallery, whereby, when a picture is viewed by a member, as well as the text box for leaving comments, there will be an addition check box marked “Personal Current Gallery Favourite.”
If a member decides that particular image is their favourite, they will “Check” the box and the selection will be made.
All images selected will then be displayed in a sub-gallery entitled “Personal Current Gallery Favourite.” And each image will display the number of selections it has received.

The administration of the selection process should be run along similar lines to the Monthly Competitions, whereby once a member has made a selection their selection is registered, and they cannot make another selection until the next 7 day period.

With the pictures being put into a separate gallery, and the number of “selections” being displayed for each image, this should provide a very visible indication as to what is popular on a weekly basis.

I must get out more!!!
