I know what you mean, its slightly larger and has the extra rubber around the grip. That said i have very large hands and the 7000 feels fine, like all things it just takes getting used to but it always comes down to performance and as of now, the 7000 is now rated better than the 300 and thats not my opinion, its all over the Nikon forums. I was only speaking to a pro the other day and he is now using a D3x and a 7000, the 7000 replaced his 300 as a second camera as he found it a better all rounder.
