Default Averaging Exposure

First off I took a painting reproduction and averaged the Tonal Values to 6.4 from a Total of 32. I took a picture of the reproduction setting my EV to VALUE 6 - on the leg - on my G S & V F Card. I set my EV to VALUE 6 BRIGHTNESS and then did the image.
Then - as the result is very accurate - I took my image and went all over it until I came up with an Average Value of 7 with the G S & V F Card. I set my EV VALUE to VALUE 7 BRIGHTNESS and then did the image.
My light for the painting copy is closed slatted window light. My image under room light is on the right.
This is a good way for paintes to do images of their paintings as well.
