adrevolver spyware cookies & WPF
I have recently been using SpyHunter3 and it detects, every time I come onto WPF, three adrevolver spyware cookies. According to SpyHunter these "track your personal information and browsing habits as you surf the web. Information can be retrieved by the parent company".
Are these cookies as dodgy as implied? I have been running SpyHunter each day after visiting WPF. Is this really necessary? If they are dodgy, why are they there? Dave http://astrosnaps.co.uk |

These should only be as bad as the cookies saved by any ad-provider and they are saved by the ad-providers rather than WPF.
More info can be found in this article. |

Sounds like false alarm.
WPF is one of the most descent places on the net and I am yet to see any malware of even pop up from this site.

It is not a false alarm Sassan - the ad-providers do try to save tracking cookies through their ads on WPF but I agree that it is not a 'serious' threat in the way that other malware can be.

I just run CCleaner or Ad-aware every week and delete all the tracking cookies.

Many thanks for the replies, I am reassured that there is nothing too dangerous here. I certainly have full respect for WPF and only had suspicions of the advertisers.
As a precaution I have installed the cookiewall as recommended in the link from mw_aurora which seems to work fine. I strongly suspect that it isn't necessary and that I have been worrying about nothing. (Having just had a fraudulent withdrawal from my credit card, I'm just a bit sensitive) Dave http://astrosnaps.co.uk |
