Where to from a Nikon D50?
I have a Nikon D50. If I were to upgrade, what model should I be looking at? I'm told the D90 is the obvious choice but I have no use for the video function. I'd rather spend the money on "more camera".
My main interests are motorsport and wildlife.

Im buying a d90 next week. Apart from the video function the d90 is pretty feature rich and stands up well to the more expensive d300s. I was torn between the £600 for the d90 and alsmost £500 more for the d300s. From reviews i've read the d90 has the exact same sensor as the d300 and image quality is pretty much the same. The only reason id pay the extra for the d300 would be for the weather proofing and allow body. also the ability to shoot at highr ISO which id love but cant justify the extra £500 at the moment.
watch some videos on youtube.....ie d90 and d300. take everything i say with a grain of salt because generally i have no idea what im talking about.....

In general terms I don't think having video makes much if any difference to the cost of a camera. Compare features and build quality/performance and then dial in the lust factor! By that I mean if your heart really wants a d300 but your head says d90 you will never be quite satisfied with the d90, especially if you could just about squeeze to the d300. Do go and handle your short list in a shop if possible before making your mind up as the feel and handling can make a big difference.

I'd say buy more/better lenses before you consider upgrading the body. Lenses make a far bigger difference than the body.
