Default Out with DX

Well folks, important decision time. I've decided to trade in all my DX Nikon gear and return to full frame only. The D3 will be partnered by a new D700, so the D300, D2X and D200 are gone. Having made the decision, all the DX lenses had to follow, and are replaced by pro zooms and primes. For those who know me, do not expect any improvement in quality of posts, because I'm the first to admit, it's who is behind the lens that makes a photograph, the camera is way down the list. Still a lot of fun expected expected over the next few weeks, months, years.... and I will report back my findings about the D700 to any who might be interested.

Great news Andy.
I hope you got a good deal for the DX kit, as I know you did with the D2x.
As you can see from my signature, I now got a D2x added recently to twin up the D2h I had off you (which incidentally has quadrupled it's frame count since I bought it off you...fantastic for what i do, perfect files for wire transfers)

Yes please, let us know how you get on with the D700. It's had some good press.
cheers
Joe

Keeping track of progress from your earlier thread, I read your sig list before your post.

Enjoy as I am sure you will.

No Don, decide to call a halt to my NAS - settled for full frame format, now going to get down to learning the tools properly and taking as many pics as I can. Getting to old to chase all this new technology which is changing so rapidly, my head is starting to spin. By the way Joe, enjoy the D2X, for me that was the hardest to get rid of - I think it will go down as a classic Nikon if it hasn't already. Going back over the years I loved the F Photomic and the F2AS and the Nikon ELII but the D2X was a real dream machine for me.

Thanks Don!! The D2x is pretty cool. judging from rising S/H prices I think I got one at a reasonable price, which has just been serviced by Calumet with D2xs firmware upgrade.
Ideal companion to the 'h. After reading through the manual, I think I've just about got it set up to how I want.....hi speed crop mode could indeed be very useful!
I've not had chance to use it in anger yet, but I'm sure I'll be doing so in the near future.

Andy, I'm keeping an eye on your signature too. When you're ready for a Nikon D4, bear me in mind for your D3 trade-in
