Monitor Resolution

I have just started shooting in Raw & when opening an image in photoshop I need to set the resolution to 1024 x 768 but this makes all other web pages & desktop shortcuts reduced in size

Is there any way to change this?

If you are using a 17" monitor the native resolution should be 1024x768, and frankly I would hate to use PS with anything less

Thanks Stephen, I have just found the paperwork for the monitor & the optimum resolution is 800 x 600 as it appears to only be 15" although it measures 17" diagonally

Time to buy a larger one I think!

Monitor sizes are measured diagonally across the viewable area, but 800x600 would be right for a 15inch. You can alter some aspects if you increase the resolution, enlarging the icons and text in windows.

I'd definitely consider a 17inch at 1024x768 at the least... life can't be much fun on the web using 800x600, you must be scrolling all over the place to see some of the images.

Too true, you will need 1280x968 and will be amazed at how much more you can get on the screen. If you need a new graphics card, no need to go for a fancy 3D all singing all dancing job, a relatively modest 128mb should be adequate.

I upgraded the graphics a while back with a nVIDIA GeFORCE 6200 256bit 400mhz card with 512MB DDR which will cope with up to 1280 x 1024 so no problem there
