Default Stacked Converter Test

I tried my recently acquired 300/2.8 lens with stacked 1.4 and 2x converters and was somewhat surprised at how usable the combo is in good light (840mm focal length). Both the attached shots were taken like this. Please note the camera only ever sees the 2x tc so the EXIF shows 600mm.
The way this lens takes converters is amazing IMO.

Fantastic detail Roy, there is no sign of any quality loss considering you had two stacked.
I have still yet to get any decent birds to try out the AF and A1-Servo on my 7D before I try with converters. From what I have read a converter could be usable with my 400 f5.6 now that feature I would be thrilled with.

I think if you do a search, sassan (where are you sassan?) did lots of tests with stacked convertors for astro photography.
