Default Fuji Bridge camera

Hi - apologies in advance for being confused as this is a first post and not even sure of what we need to ask!!

We have had a Fuji S5000 for some years now and have been very happy with it. So we thought we'd upgrade to a Fuji S1600 with a better zoom more pixels and a really nice large screen!

We have taken comparison shots and the older S5000 is performing markedly better than the new all singing and dancing S1600.

In a nutshell my question: is there a bridge camera - fuji or otherwise that would be comparable or indeed better than the S5000.
Appreciate that a digital SLR would perhaps be the experts choice - but as we're not really experts - and we like the convenience of the S5000.
Any help would be much appreciated
dlyn

I have used a Fuji 5600 for years and was happy with it. Wanted a camera with more pixels, larger screen, more controle etc.
I went with a Panasonic Lumix G1. About the same size as a bridge camera. Can be used as point and shoot in full auto or as a DSLR in manual mode.
May not be right for you but something else to think about.
