'Better' is very relative. Even if another lens can resolve to fewer lines per mm are you a) going to notice the difference b) willing to pay for the loss in versatility for that extra tiny bit of sharpness. I think the 'better' lens would make a minute, if at noticeable, difference to your photographs. Remember it's the photographer not the equipment that makes a good photograph.
