I as I see it there are lots of ways to decide a tie.
1, Extend the voting time by another day or more.
2, Start a new poll from scratch.
3, New poll with just the tied photos.
4, Mods toss a coin.
5, First posted wins.

Most be other ideas as well but I like the first post idea as Gidders said above. Plus think its simple and quick and gets a result first time. As long as everyone knows then post early sounds like a good way to me as any other way has advantages and disadvantages. .

I am happy with Gidders idea too, it will save a lot of messing about, not as though we are winning prizes or anything, just a bit of fun....I am going to be minding 2 of our grandsons during the next challenge & probably won't have a lot of time to mess about with fixing up tied voting...
Hope the next Challenge gets a few entries, it is hard to think of ideas to appeal to everyone.

I posted later because I also have to work having 7 ha of agricultural land. Not in mood for photograhy every day as sometimes I am really tired. This, I mean "photography", is supposed to be an ART and has nothing to do with bidding on Ebay!!! I did not copy anybody's idea, I do not know why Clive suggests this.

I didn't read anything personal into Clive's post Susan. I think he was just giving reasons in a general way for his suggestion.

It seems to me a bit, Peter.

I also think that, as any other competition, it should be anonymous (without knowing the authors of entries)

Susan, I don't think Clive was aiming that comment at you, he was just generalizing.
We need to sort out something though as all these ties are a pain!!!! I don't care if it is 1st or last posted,or if someone has another idea,or we just stick with another vote and drag it out a bit longer...it would help if more people would vote, but not everyone is interested in the challenge. This is supposed to be fun,I hope we can get a few entries into the next challenge and get an outright winner.

Maybe, Trena, those in tie can decide between themselves (as did we) who wants to set another challenge,
or winners will set together another challenge
or eventually moderator will decide who or set a challenge himself.

I still think the competition should be anonymous.

I agree with Susan about the desirability of making the competition anonymous... but I cant think of a way of easily achieving that
