Canon 300D question
I have a friend who visited before Christmas to photograph some models ( metal ) using flash. He has a Canon 300D. He also took pics using Stevies D100 and my X. So impressed with the flash setup he ordered a two head studio kit.
When comparing the pics from the day all the 300D have a blue cast, whereas D100 and the X are fine. Today the flash units arrived he has had a bit of a play. Again all showing a blue cast. Outdoor shots taken immediatly afterwards are fine with no cast. 1) Has anyone experienced this, and have a solution. 2) Does anyone have a link to an online manual that I can download and read. Thanks in advance. Don |

Don I am just reading the manual I think he may have the flash mode in the wrong setting but not sure. I am thinking tungsten or something like that.

Christine,
I was wondering if W/B has to be set manually or a simple trick like an 81A filter to warm the tones might work. He is plugging the studio units into a hotshoe adaptor if that is any help. Don |

I would think to correct the problem you just put the WB setting on the flash mode the auto might not be reading the WB correctly. I never move mine from auto, I will give it a try and see if there is a difference. I have the camera in front of me.

That would be great if you can. The background we used on the day, and he used today, is very light tan - off white. I am sure Dulux would give it a fancy name. Subject is small model aero engine, so something a bit metalic. He used manual, so exposure just reflects flash output with no real impact from ambient light. Don |

Don, Two samples the first one was done on auto the second one I changed the WB to Flash. The photo the greys should be aprox 18% its one of those wind up torches. To me the first looks as though it has a blue cast the second a magenta cast. Good use of the ring flash.
