Description: I like elephants and this one broke my heart. She was chained to a post, but still found it in her to cuddle up when I approached, wrapping her trunk around my head. Lovely animals so badly treated.

Bristow Helicopters S61N

Description: The return to Jersey from Poole on Monday was made slighty more exciting with the intervention of this S61N of Bristow Helicopters which conducted three practice winchings with the crew of Condor Express as she was steaming at 35+ knots. It gave the passengers a great photo opportunity and the chance to experience the down draft from the rotors at first hand as the machine past overhead at only a few feet.

Description: This young girl and her child followed us for ages, in the end we gave her a few coins in exchange for a photograph. It's hard not to be humbled by these people, in the end you have to become somewhat desensitised.

Description: This old lady was begging for change close to the remains of Old Goa. She let me take her photograph and in exchange I gave her 50 rupees (58p), she thought Christmas had arrived early. Earning in goa on average are �425 a year, if they are lucky.

Description: I say would that this is the downside to a holiday anywhere in a third world county. While giving me a good chance to photo such scenes, I couldn�t escape from the feeling of helplessness. The equipment I was carrying on my back cost more than many of these people would earn in 5 years. This young girl was begging close to the beach at Arambol in Northern Goa, in comparison to some she was lucky, others had, had their legs broken and disfigured to try and gain as much sympathy as possible and hopefully more money. Wherever possible we gave food rather than money, as in some cases there were 3rd parties taking advantage of the beggars on their income.
