Description: This guy was also a natural and probably his first stand up on a board, he was so happy when he had finished this run. Again I was glad to capture it for him. Being out with the camera, made me realise how much I miss just pottering about with it.

Description: These surfers are on a team building exercise from the Ambulance Service. My friend asked me to take some pics of them but I couldn't stay long. It was too windy to go down on to the beach with my camera.

Preparing to Surf

Description: A friend asked me to take some photographs of his first-time surfing morning. It was a wild day with rough seas but these guys went in anyway. I used the RF100-300, I haven't had much time to experiment with it. I cannot find these pics on my hard drive but have downloaded these from where I sent them to him privately.

Roll out the barrel

Description: Weeks ago I promised Brian (the man in blue) I'd take photographs for him of the start of his new project. He is an 89 year old artist and had decided to paint this barrel for a gardening group. Barrel had to be moved to his new workshop, the 3 'young' people were among a group moving it. Before going into the building they discovered it was leaking a little whiskey!!!! This is going to be an interesting paint job!!

Band Parade

Description: On Saturday night a local band held a band parade around town, it had received so much publicity because of the golf being on around the same time. This is a phone shot, as I didn't wish to carry a camera, too many around. There were approx 80 bands parading!

Nathan Carter Singing

Description: This guy is a famous singer here in NI and in Scotland, he was singing at an open air radio concert. I had taken my long lens with me (to see if there were any dolphins!), so I took this shot. About an hour before this I had been in a caf� for lunch and he came in for lunch too! His most famous song is Wagon Wheel!!

Description: That's a fair crop from its original size! Your setting are kk but I'd have used a faster shutter speed as at 400mm on a Canon you're using the equivalent of 640mm so any movement will be magnified. Remember the old 1/effective focal length= shutter speed so this should have been 1/600. This is just a general rule though-depends how shaky you are! All I've done with your pic is lightened it a little, small amount of contrast, and a light sharpening. Even at download file size it will print A4- I tried it! Hope this helps. Dave

Description: F8 1/400sec ISO 160 Exp .03 - size 6000 x 4000 5.9 mls 350 dpi. The cropped size is 2291/1566, I just cropped the photograph to make the characters stand out. You can tell I haven't a clue what I'm doing with photography, even at this late stage in life!!

Description: I was about to go home, when I decided to take one more look at the practice area. I'd gone to the event in the hope of seeing Tommy Fleetwood and lo there he was. When he finished his practice he came round everyone signing autographs and I was able to take this photograph. So it pays to stick around at events, I went home very happy.

Description: Tom McKibben is a Northern Ireland Golfer, just starting out. Niall Horan is or was a singer with the group One Direction, a boy band! I hadn't a clue who he was when I took the photograph. I was some distance away and this is heavily cropped, taken with the R6 and 100-400 lens which I'm beginning to like. I'd appreciate your opinion about the quality of a big a crop, if you know what I mean.

Description: I had a day out at the Golf Practice sessions. I used the Panasonic, I didn't want my R6 confiscated, not sure if it was allowed there! They did have a Nikon look out tent and flew a Nikon flag around the course! I took this shot from a long distance away and wasn't too sure if it would be ok. Not a great shot but I was happy.

Description: I haven't a clue who these golfers are! I hung around until this took place, previously I'd been a place where I couldn't see their faces. Difficult to know where to stand at events, although I should have watched where the official photographers were!! The 100-400 lens may have been the wrong choice but I like how close it reached.

Puzzled

Description: This photograph is blurry as I didn't want this couple to see me taking their photograph. When I passed them the guy was putting a weight on the camera. He was putting a string over the lens, which puzzled me as I've only ever read that to put a weight on a camera, add it to the tripod! I've been told it's like a plum line rather than a weight. Just thought I'd ask, if anyone knows. I think they are surveying the area, so a plum line is most likely.

Description: Hannah arrived in a sports car from a local car dealership. I liked the way the driver was smiling towards the camera. I wasn't supposed to be there but as this was a public footpath thought it was ok and no one challenged me!! It was a great day. I took the Canon 7d with me as the lens on it has a longer reach, so I could get a bit closer.

Description: Dame Mary Peters and Hannah Scott both Gold Medallists. Mary quite a few years ago and Hannah this year. Hannah was part of the GB Rowing Team and comes from Coleraine. Alan Simpson, a local personality, was interviewing the girls.

Description: Olympic GB Gold Medallist, Hannah Scott, part of the woman's Rowing Team for GB was welcomed back to Coleraine, N Ireland on 14th August. There was a Reception for her and a large crowd gathered to cheer and welcome her. Dame Mary Peters attended to, she had won a Gold Medals about 25 yrs ago. We went to see Hannah and I took my camera to take a few pics of this historic occasion.

Description: Jeremy McWilliams was signing autographs. In this photograph he is talking to a disabled man and telling him that he remembers him from another event and named it. The disabled guy was absolutely delighted that he'd been remembered. They motorbike guys are so genuine.

Description: First time out with the camera in weeks. Never thought I could make it to NW200 Meet the Riders this year, but managed a few shots last Friday. Sad thing is, if I'd stayed at home I'd have been rested for the biggest show of the Northern Lights!! After standing in the afternoon, my legs refused to let me go out at night!!!

Description: I was out today in a big warm coat, woollen hat and layers of clothes. Alan was out in his shorts, enjoying this beautiful day - he didn't stop long - he was on his way home wondering if he should go out on a Paddle board to enjoy the sea!!! I'm getting too old!!
