Description: Another favourite in this part of the world. I'm sure guys on this site are not interested in pics of these guys but I just enjoyed trying to photograph them, it's not easy as there was a big crowd at the event.

Puzzled

Description: This photograph is blurry as I didn't want this couple to see me taking their photograph. When I passed them the guy was putting a weight on the camera. He was putting a string over the lens, which puzzled me as I've only ever read that to put a weight on a camera, add it to the tripod! I've been told it's like a plum line rather than a weight. Just thought I'd ask, if anyone knows. I think they are surveying the area, so a plum line is most likely.

Hannah Waves at Crowds

Description: I think Hannah has just realised how many people have turned out to see her. Olympic Gold Medallist for the GB Rowing Team 2024, comes from Coleraine and is a bright bubbly person. Hannah's homecoming event.

Description: Hannah arrived in a sports car from a local car dealership. I liked the way the driver was smiling towards the camera. I wasn't supposed to be there but as this was a public footpath thought it was ok and no one challenged me!! It was a great day. I took the Canon 7d with me as the lens on it has a longer reach, so I could get a bit closer.

Two Olympic Gold Medallists

Description: Dame Mary Peters and Hannah Scott both Gold Medallists. Mary quite a few years ago and Hannah this year. Hannah was part of the GB Rowing Team and comes from Coleraine. Alan Simpson, a local personality, was interviewing the girls.

Description: Olympic GB Gold Medallist, Hannah Scott, part of the woman's Rowing Team for GB was welcomed back to Coleraine, N Ireland on 14th August. There was a Reception for her and a large crowd gathered to cheer and welcome her. Dame Mary Peters attended to, she had won a Gold Medals about 25 yrs ago. We went to see Hannah and I took my camera to take a few pics of this historic occasion.

Description: Jeremy McWilliams was signing autographs. In this photograph he is talking to a disabled man and telling him that he remembers him from another event and named it. The disabled guy was absolutely delighted that he'd been remembered. They motorbike guys are so genuine.

Meet the Riders 2024

Description: First time out with the camera in weeks. Never thought I could make it to NW200 Meet the Riders this year, but managed a few shots last Friday. Sad thing is, if I'd stayed at home I'd have been rested for the biggest show of the Northern Lights!! After standing in the afternoon, my legs refused to let me go out at night!!!

Description: I was out today in a big warm coat, woollen hat and layers of clothes. Alan was out in his shorts, enjoying this beautiful day - he didn't stop long - he was on his way home wondering if he should go out on a Paddle board to enjoy the sea!!! I'm getting too old!!

Description: A friend asked me to take pics at War Memorial this morning. These young people were placing a cross in the small cross box. With the state of the world, I hope they never have to serve. I used to 7d as I thought the reach would be better but missed the IBIS of the R6.

Presentation of Book

Description: I really could do with advice. I was asked to do an 'undercover' photography shot, in a store, today. Brian, the man with the beard, has written a book about his friend Sean and he was presenting it today. Brian asked me to be there to take photographs in case the newspaper photographer wouldn't make it. Thankfully, he did. - I had to pretend to be an ordinary customer in the Cafe, until Brian gave me a signal. I don't have a flash for the R6 yet, so had debate of 7d or go with R6. In the end went with the R6 and no flash. I'm not a 'people' photographer at all, so are these kind of ok or any advice would be great.

Alan and the Rescuers

Description: Alan (the guy wearing glasses) is a local promoter/celeb and wanted a photograph with the rescuers. Notice the brush a very important part of the boat, I didn't notice it when I was taking the shot!! I don't look for detail like this when taking photographs!!

Rescuers Receive their Certificates

Description: These guys were involved in the rescue of 3 fishermen, in the summer, when a freak wave crashed the fishermen's boat causing them to jump into the rough sea. The Skipper heard their SOS call and located them in the water, he managed to bring 2 onboard and our Lifeboat picked up the 3rd fisherman. Dame Mary Peters presented these rescuers with Certificates of Merit, this morning and the Skipper had invited me to take pics. I think the R6 handled it all very well as the boat was definitely rocking and my hands were so shaky and I was feeling a little seasick!!! I need more practice with the focus tracking on this camera!

Description: Dame Mary Peters sitting at the wheel of Causeway Lass. Dame Mary is our 'first' Lady in Northern Ireland. She is known for her Gold win at the Olympics in 1972. This is the third time I have photographed her and she is such a lovely person.
