Preparations for the Golf

Description: Preparations are well on the way for the 153rd Golf Championship. Roads are being closed and re-surfaced, the town is full of builders, working of many properties and other places are being painted. It's great to watch it all going on.

Description: A small amount (+50) clarity,+15 Brightening (on the steeple), and +50 sharpening in ACDSee Pro 2024.Unfortunately I don't know what software you are using,but it's a start for comparison.

Weather Vane

Description: This weather vane is on our town hall, I wanted to take a photograph of it today to see how the cropping would work. It was only the 24-105 lens and it was far away from where I was so in the circumstances I think it's not too bad, far from perfect but ok.

Heart Stonework

Description: While taking photographs of the buildings, I remember this local Church Hall building had a 'heart' stone on it. I've heard two stories of how it originated. First one is workmen were playing cards one day and the Rector caught them (they should have been working) and he gave off to them. The stonemason decided to put in the 'heart' stone. The other is the stonemason was refused time to go to a funeral so he left a 'heart' stone as a memory. I used 'spot' metering for the first time today and I'm not entirely sure if I knew what I was doing!! I need so much practice with the R6!!

Old Buildings gone

Description: This is the site of the 'old buildings' I posted earlier. This week they have been demolished. This is a big event in our town and soon one of our old hotels will be demolished too! All in preparation for the Open Golf Championship this year. Not really a photographic capture for a photograph but I haven't been out with the camera as it's been very cold and grey here.

A Big Mistake

Description: Well, this is what happens when I rushed out of the house, after an Aurora alert, without having checked the camera. Wrong lens on camera 28-70 then I compounded things by not putting the lens to manual focus!! I could see the red all over the sky!!!! Had to rush home to get my wide angle lens!!!

Description: We have a Christmas Tree Display in our Church at present. I loved the effect of the light on this window. Just taking with the phone, I'm not sure if I have the ability to take a photograph of this with the R6! If I could sneak in when no one is there to try, I would but too many people around!!

Church Door Lit Up

Description: Holy Trinity, Church of Ireland in Portrush - I stopped one evening to take a photograph with my phone. We have had so much wind and rain, I haven't taken my camera out. I intend (again) to go out at night to take a camera photograph!

Nativity Scene

Description: The Nativity Scene was moved from another location in this town and brought up to outside the Church. The sun highlighted the Church and the Nativity Scene was lit up. Description: I turned the corner into this street one day and light rain was falling and highlighted by the sun - it looked lovely. Sadly, my phone couldn't catch the rain but I liked this image, so thought I'd post it. This street is in a town about 5 miles away from where I live.

Pictures from an exhibition-Overall display

Description: Some of you may be aware that my wife of almost 56 years (Elf29) passed away from Cancer in April at this Hospice. We had decided to donate some photographs that we had taken over the years to the hospice for use in their in-patient ward, so I printed and framed fifteen pictures (should have been twelve but I couldn't decide!) The pictures in the centre shot are unframed additions.A staff member suggested that we did an exhibition in one of their rooms, so these photos form my part of a joint exhibition with members of Coedpoeth Camera Club (I'm not a member!) who had coincidentally contacted the hospice about doing an exhibition to raise funds. It's open from 19-11-24 until 06-12-2024 to the public and prints can be ordered through the hospice.

Eclipse!

Description: Mother nature did not cooperate during the eclipse today, where I live in eastern Pennsylvania. Clouds rolled in when the sun was about 1/4 covered. So, after waiting for a long time for a clearing, I slowed the shutter to 1.3 seconds and made this image through the cloud layer.

Description: On Sat pm my not too far away neighbour (Finance Director of Iceland Frozen Foods) had a massive party, presumably for a birthday, at his house. Us peasants never got an invite so at 10.20pm I was standing on my front path taking photos with a little compact camera I'd only bought the day before. Ended up with about 60 pics. Who knows what the fireworks cost but they went on for a good 30 mins.

I am back !!

Description: Last Wednesday ( last month) I was taken ill, phoned 111 and 7 mins later was in an ambulance with blues and twos going at high speed to an A&E at a large hospital some 20 miles away. I don't remember much for the next 3 days as I was in critical care, it transpired I had 2 blood transfusions and 60 litres of saline through me. I had lost 3 pints for blood internally and when I came to in a single room was feeling a bit sorry for my self. I got. home late last night, so now lots of images to look at on site having done my mail Etc. Like I said once before "if I can't take my camera I aint going " is you are stuck with me...... sorry

Gull with mystery sea creature

Description: Can any anglers on here identify what this gull has picked out of the water? It seems to have two thin streamer like extremities. Apologies for the crap quality but these were just grab shots, heavily cropped and resized for upload.
