Description: One for Mike-I thought it was a juvenile Cormorant or Shag but other web photos would say no. A disappointing trip as there were very few birds at the lake and I had to make do with shore birds on the river.(And I had a newcomer with me!)

Kestrel hovering

Description: On Friday am I took some of my wife's ashes to spread them on Moel Famau, our local tallest mountain (1818 ft, 554m) in the Clwydian range ( a favourite walking place). Mission accomplished despite the rain that started as I approached the top,I started down and noticed this kestrel hovering. I only had my 16-80 lens with me as I was was taking photos of the surrounding landscape so these are big crops from the originals.

Field of Dead Trees

Description: We live in the woods and many of the trees around us are dead or dying. When I cut down one of the dead trees, the rings from the last 10 to 15 years are progressively thinner indicating that the tree was not growing as well as in previous years. I have no idea what is happening elsewhere, but it getting bad here. Be it Natural or Man-Made, It looks like our climate is changing!

Beginning The Attack!

Description: There was a prolonged and repeated attack of one Egyptian Goose on another. It was really brutal with the attacker not content on just driving it's rival away but intent on killing it. Can't resist it - Murder Most Fowl! In the end the victim did manage to get away.

Description: First time out with the camera in weeks. Never thought I could make it to NW200 Meet the Riders this year, but managed a few shots last Friday. Sad thing is, if I'd stayed at home I'd have been rested for the biggest show of the Northern Lights!! After standing in the afternoon, my legs refused to let me go out at night!!!

I made this picture 10 years ago using a digital camera that was not very good. But the image is worth sharing, because of the surprise.
