Autumn in December

Description: One from last month that's getting behind as it was taken in RAW, and I hadn't then worked out how to process it ! Lovely burst of sunlight obliquely lighting up the leaves of these two oaks in the hedgeline. And amazing green from the newly sprouting winter corn. Ilmer, Bucks. Panasonic FZ30 220 mm efl, 500th @ f4.5

cheeky squirrel

Description: Taken through the double glazed door of the study, this cheeky squirrel sat on the creeper growing up the pergola support. Risky spot with the mutts about, not much light either. Patchy snow in the background. Luckily the camera was to hand for this snatched shot. Great advert for the FZ20's OIS, 420mm efl, and 1/15th sec @f4, iso80.

Description: .....of snow has been our ration to date, all 2 mm of it. Exaggerated in this image by being banked up under the lee of this copse, cold enough though at -4 degC.

Description: Late this afternoon I thought we were in for snow by the weight of these clouds, but at the last momemnt the sun came out and offered us a reprieve! Quite a spectacular effect at the cloud's edge!

Description: Evelyn is one of 35 or so Falmouth Working Boats that are now used for racing locally. Some were built in the late 19th century and are still lovingly cossetted and are still seaworthy.

autumnal disagreement!

Description: The oak tree seems to be disagreeing with the poplars about the state autumn has reached, and the winter corn in the field is actually growing on quite well. Climatic confusion!

Description: This is Oliver, one of or two rescued terriers. He's probably a Lakeland Terrier, Jack Russell cross, with a dash of Border Terrier. Lively energetic character, he's two and a half, very loving unless you happen to be rabbit shaped, cat shaped or even squirrel shaped!

Description: Unusually vivid flames in this burning rubbish, where the farmer is getting rid of old plastic bindertwine. It was a frosty fog at the time, and the colour is helped by the aromatic chemicals in the plastic. I find the flames fascinating.

Description: Spotted outside a house in Ilmer was this wire framed reindeer that was obviously lit up at night. But this frosty morning it was picked out in a ray of sunshine in an otherwise shadowed scene.
