Description: I took this and manipulated it as a possible for my One-a-Day. When I look at it I can see random grey dots at the intersections. I wonder whether I've been spending too much time in front of my screen.

Great Crested Grebe

Description: Nothing special about this photo, but I wanted to show what can be done with my new toy, the Panasonic DH2 with 14-140 kit lens. The camera is four-thirds format giving the lens a 35mm equivalent zoom of 28-280. However, those clever Panasonic engineers have added an Extra Telephoto Converter (ETC). This uses the centre 4 mp of the sensor and gives an additional 2x converter, with no significant deteriation of image quality, resulting in a telephoto zoom of 560mm (35mm equivalent). Not bad for such a small camera and lens.

Cat In Four Worlds

Description: Managed to take this before the cat moved. The yellow frame is the kitchen door into the conservatory; the fern and potted plant are in the conservatory; the cat is sitting on the other side of the door looking away from the camera and is reflected in the conservatory window; and the plant next to the cat is in the garden. No digital manipulation except to remove a bit of clutter and clone the bottom of the window to complete the frame. I've always liked Escher's woodcut 'Three Worlds' which shows a pond, a tree reflection on the pond's surface, and a fish in the pond. By a great bit of luck, I beat Escher by one world!!!!
