Junior Cormorant

Description: Shouting and wing spreading at another bird. I thought I'd taken my XT5/100-400 combo but when I got there I realised I'd swapped bags about the night before. Bags now clealy identified with different coloured tags. All I need to do now is remember which coloured tag relates to which camera.

Description: I went to meet my sisters in law in Wallasey on Monday and they took me to an area of the town where some of the population have turned into scarecrows! I counted 20+ but we had to leave as we didn't fit in.

Description: Probably the only half decent shot I've got of a Cormorant in flight. There were nine Cormorants in total in various places round the weir-I've not seen this many together before.

Description: That's a fair crop from its original size! Your setting are kk but I'd have used a faster shutter speed as at 400mm on a Canon you're using the equivalent of 640mm so any movement will be magnified. Remember the old 1/effective focal length= shutter speed so this should have been 1/600. This is just a general rule though-depends how shaky you are! All I've done with your pic is lightened it a little, small amount of contrast, and a light sharpening. Even at download file size it will print A4- I tried it! Hope this helps. Dave

Description: This track is near to one of the bird hides I go to, and last time I went I managed to get a few shots of this. Couldn't find anyone to ask for info and didn't want to stop the horse! There is a proper raceway further up the coast so it might have something to do with this.

Description: Had a spur of the moment trip to the NWWT site at Bangor last Tuesday. So glad I went as I got some more Kingfisher shots to add to my collection. (and it's a 100 mile round trip!) These appear to be juveniles.Lighting was very harsh so a fair bit of processing was required to get these.
