Orb weaver?

Description: Think this is an orb weaver as the quarry is full of them but I couldn't see it properly. Playing about with the free trial of Zerene stacker. This is 6 shots hand held (with flash) stacked in ZS then edited in LR.

Yellow barred longhorn

Description: Walking round a local nature reserve with my macro lens on. I'd never seen these before & had to look it up. Their antennae are something like twice as long as their bodies (which is why I couldn't get all the antennae in the shot & it wouldn't have been in focus anyway) They were flying about in groups of 15 or 20 and landing on bracken plants

Description: Probably my favourite location on Iceland, I had seen countless images of this mountain. We arrived in plenty of time for sunrise but as often happens it didn't materialise. We were however treated to some fleeting glimpses of the mountain and light on the grass covered black volcanic sand dunes

Last Flight

Description: In 1973 a United States Navy DC plane ran out of fuel and crashed on the black beach at S�lheimasandur, in the South coast of Iceland. Fortunately, everyone in that plane survived. Later it turned out that the pilot had simply switched over to the wrong fuel tank. The remains are still on the sand very close to the sea.

The Hidden Waterfall

Description: On Icelands south coast about 500m from Seljalandsfoss is another waterfall called Gljufrabru, know as the hidden waterfall as it falls into a cave which can be accessed from the river either in wellies or by tiptoeing on ice cover rocks

Description: Its that time of year again in the Lake District, Crummock water is one of the more famous places to see English wild bluebells, about 10 days of great weather have produced a good showing this year. I always find it difficult to show them in the context of their surroundings because they are so small. The same with snowdrops. Shot at 35mm

Description: A tourist risks a soaking to capture the 197ft tall Seljalandsfoss on Icelands south coast with his I phone. Whilst it was a bright sunny day the ground all around the base was covered with thick ice from the freezing spray

Birch sunlight

Description: A walk round Buttremere on Thursday with Maggie, very bright sunlight was difficult to find anything to inspire me. These Birch trees were overhanging the lake on the path round the lake. Lee Acaster inspired (copied) if you've never heard of him google him. he won Garden photographer of the year (trees cat) last year.

Northern Lights

Description: End of day 1 in Iceland and we were lucky enough to witness a fine show of the aurora. We drove 10km out of Selfoss & walked up onto the rim of the 3000yr old Kerid volcanic crater. Foreground light was added using my headtorch during an 8sec exposure iso 3200 f4 @16mm.

Description: Just back from 10 days in Iceland photography trip with my mate Jason self guided & made up as we went along. One of the places on my list of must see in Iceland was the beach at Jokulsarlon where blocks of ice ranging from the size of a microwave oven to size of a car come out of the lagoon & wash up on the black sand.

Description: Clive (gidders) brought his usual overcast & gloomy weather when he came to visit this week. We made the most of a dull day with a trip on the Eskdale narrow gauge railway, a walk along the river & speciality sausage & cider for lunch in The Woolpack. A shot of the incredibly clear river turned out to be my best of the bunch.

Description: I think this is a variety of ground speedwell but Im not exactly sure. Flowerhead was about 8mm across. Due to the lack of light, limited depth of field this was 6 shots handheld combined, aligned & focus stacked in Photoshop CC.

Holme force

Description: This was my preferred shot of the day after editing, Holme Force in Holme woods Loweswater, these falls cascade down over 100ft in several falls. Not a great deal of water yesterday as we haven't had any rain for a few days. Thankfully the water was in the shade making controlling the highlights a bit easier. I played around with shutter speeds but settled on 1/3rd sec for this version. I maybe could have gone even a little faster but was happy with the result.

Buttermere pines

Description: Went to photograph the pines at the head of Buttermere early yesterday morning, the breeze was a little more than I wanted which spoiled the reflections. But here it is anyway. The shadow in the background is Fleetwith pike, the angle of the sun makes it look like a church spire but having been to the top I can assure you it is a fairly easy walk.
