Ruskin's View
Chris, this was John Ruskin the celebrated Victorian artist and critic who prompted by the view of the river from St. Mary's churchyard remarked that it was one of the finest views in England..... thus it became known as Ruskin's View. Don't know whether he had a pad in Coniston. Turner transferred the view to canvas. |
