Here is the latest Hassleblad release for any lottery winners. :D
50mp - where will it all end.

Oh nearly forgot, with 300mb Tiffs then probably add a new computer as well.

willing to mop up any D300 s being thrown out in favour of these new toys now that I know how slow D80 is chasing Perigrine Falcons and Sand Martins :D

Don,

I am following this thread (honest!) just not had any free time lately. However that will change next week when myself and Caroline are having a week in the Lakes - all with days out for photography. :)

I have also got some new glass to test and I do intend putting both the D3 and D300 through some rigorous testing, this is really the first opportunity (besides my event work) I've had to do so.

So more soon... ;)

Oh and I have to say, I can't personally see Nikon's reasoning behind the D700. OK it fills a price point, but I don't think it's a 'must buy' deal.

I look forward to the results Derek.

£800 difference will make a lot of difference in the affordability stakes for those that want full frame. Also size and weight is a factor for quite a few. Similar arguement to the D2X v D200.

Quite a few members here went for the Canon 5D I assume on the same basis rather than 1Ds MkII ( hope I got that right ;) ). I bet Sassan will be full of it when Canon announce the 5D replacement.

I think they can count me out for a D700 - have my hands full learning about the D3 & 300 - but I make no promises on the D3X :o  :D

Perhaps motorised golf carts need to be added to the News/Views and Reviews section.

Hey Don - I thought you'd seen my earlier posting - I've already covered the transport problem and it also has a mount for the Sigma 200-500mm f2.8 !!!:D

Never gets stuck in traffic and I cannot see anyone trying to collect congestion charges or parking tickets -:D :D

I have no intention of getting one but thought I would check it out anyway. Two previews - not production cameras though.

Looks pretty impressive, no image samples found yet, but I guess from Nikons viewpoint this will appeal to a wider market and so will sell in far greater numbers than the D3. If image quality of the D3 at high ISO made that a 'must buy' deal, then although you may miss a few things from the D3, even gain odd things not on the D3, that same high ISO appeal will still be there and so for non D3 owners it offers an awful lot, for an awful lot less £$.
So I can well see the reasoning.

Just had a chuckle at this thread started at the end of March 07. :D

Will the D2X replacement be announced at Photokina in September, given that the X was announced there in 2004 ?

Book your tickets now Andy. The dates : Tuesday, September 23 to Sunday, September 28, 2008 ;) :)
