I am! KENSINGTON mouse every time, though expect others of same type as good, ie optical and with 'geometric' drive, ie extremely accurate if moved slowly, mighty fast/small area needed if moved fast.

Have used nothing but portable (but lap is a very stupid place) for last 4 years and that included architecture using Microstation software. When literally no work surface available, the mouse works perfectly well on the flat deck to right of touchpad.

Lastly scroll-wheel saves much time and 2-key short cuts programmable.

Can't do any serious (accurate) editing on my laptop either with touchpad, mouse or separate USB optical mouse. Has to wait till I can get home to use my Wacom & 21" monitor :D

I find the touchpad difficult to say the least.
