Christine, I had a d-link wireless router at one time and had no end of trouble with it on my Mac. It kept cutting itself off. If service doesn't improve over next 7 days pm me as I have two spare wireless routers you are welcome to try. But I would try your service provider before anything else.

Softix, Andy this is a very old thread and I haven't had any problems for a while. The speed did settle down eventually so I don't get cut off anymore. My service provider said I didn't need a new modem which surprised me as its about 5 years old.
