Printers.

I stopped using Epson printers about 12 months ago because of their annoying excessive usage of ink when head cleaning (a seemingly regular necessity!). I now use a Canon Pixma IP4700 and haven't had to clean heads in over 12 months. I was recently considering an A3 printer but the Canon ones (except possibly for the 9000/9500 models(too expensive) are limited to 676mm print length-I sometimes print panoramas 900x210mm and have to admit to using an old Epson for this. Older Epsons don't seem to have the inbuilt "finite life" of the newer ones.If any one knows of a decent reasonably priced A3 printer(non-Epson) which will do prints up to say 1100mm long please let me know. I've looked at the HP Officejet 7000 but it gets varied reviews and I'm put off by the negative ones. Also I don't really like the front in/front out feed system.

I've been using Canon printers for a few years now after using Epson before. I'm glad I made the switch, I too found the excessive use of ink annoying.

I ended up quitting ink jets altogether and buying a Brother mono laser printer - best move I ever made!. I can get my colour prints from a on-line print house cheaper than I could print them myself and the quality is superb. No more prating around with Ink jets for me ;)

HP LaserJet P1005 - it's a good piece and very cheap. The ink toner is comparatively cheap as well.
