Creating a photographic image, in my mind is art, and as much as I prefer to create an image that is 'complete' from the outset, I also accept that artistic license can be introduced. It all depends on the purpose of the final image. Ive seen some fabulous images that would have been lost, if the photographer hadnt added the sky from stock. Its something Ive never tried, but as Im wanting to spend more time taking landscape shots, I'd certainly consider trying it out.

Thanks for your views.

I really like Landscapes and obviously the sky is important especialy as I enter these into competions at a Photographic Club I have just joined. Obviously I want to put the best image in I can without too much manipulation.

I can see peoples views re the Art side and the final product as an image.
As I have not enough images as yet to choose from it is tempting to replace some of the skies on some passable shots I have, guess I will have to get a book on Elements.

Any suggestions?

I use "Photoshop Elements 3, The Missing Manual" by Barbara Brundage
ISBN 0-596-00453-2
Got it from Amazon.co.uk

It's covered everything I've wanted to do so far.
