Here's one of my Emperor dragonfly shots. I'm not keen on flash so all I take are natural lights shots :)

hughredcanary 03-01-08 16:29

Marcell Wonderful shot:) how cum I can’t see the wire,:D
It’s all Christine’s fault she started it:) .
Christine I keep trying Iv even tried super glue but I just can’t catch the flipping things, and the knat’s when I try to catch them I miss, must get a bigger net or put my glasses on

Nice dragonfly shot, that is one I can't seem to capture I am always to far away.

Hugh. An easy way to atract the gnats it to cover yourself in lights then you will be able to get them no trouble, you will end up with lots of bites and itching but it will be worth it.

I just looked round the garden at sunset just as the light is going you can see them hovering in the sunlight. I focus on something the same distance and use flash.

Can someone waken Alex about this thread?
Where is his wonderful image of flying insects??

robski 03-05-08 15:59

A fluke of a shot - I was waiting for it to land on the flower - half a second too early :D

Just to keep the thread ticking over.

Nice one of a Migrant Hawker Hugh. It is not as easy as it looks. A bit like birds in flight requires a certain skill to be developed.

robski 27-09-08 19:30

I managed to get some practice in this afternoon. Ideal conditions, Warm, Bright and plenty of hovering above the pond.

hughredcanary 27-09-08 22:05

Nice one Christine, Hugh don't despair - they are 12 inches across and hanging in Christine's conservatory LOL :D :D :D

hughredcanary 23-06-09 17:21

:D So that’s how she did it, Andy I did think of setting up the camera on tripod with the camera set on self time mode then caching a mosquito, then going round to the front of the camera then throwing the mosquito at the lens, the problem with that is how long would it tack once I throw the mosquito for it to reach focal point, and working out the rule third,:D:D
