Alright.
The new puzzle goes with a story:
As a kid, I learned from my very wise Grandfather that if I eat and like the taste of a fruit, I may as well plant its seed somewhere in a corner of garden!

Well that is what exactly I did some 15 years back in garden of my home, with a fruit that actually I happened to hand pick it from a tree near work. The Old man (RIP) was right and here is the fruits of the tree in this story, with picture being only a minute or two fresh, just taken and out of camera, even though this is not even Spring yet by local season (Actually we are some 10 days to the first day of Spring 2016, and I must know this because any Persian-origin person must know about the first day of spring that is the biggest cultural celebration day of year; "Id Nowruz", also know as Astronomical Vernal Equinox, when day and night are exactly equal and a tree has the shortest of its shadow, throughout the year! something that old Persians learned some 5-6 thousand years back, in fact the first people to have a correct and fixed solar calendar, by knowing exact difference between occurrence of this date and incorporated corrections in the each year calendar, every year, down to the seconds!... This makes each month 30-31 days calendar except one tricky one month, thus seasons would be same throughout the centuries, on each called day of season, unlike lunar or otherwise widely accepted calendars of those time).

Anyhow, back to our puzzle and here obviously the question is on a fruit and answer "Fruit" is not acceptable. You need to call the correct name of this fruit and with many people here expert in the field of agriculture, I assume this should not be a difficult puzzle, but we shall see.

So the hint is the tree has fruits ready even before spring in temperate climates such a southern California.

Lets see who can nail this one.

Spot on.
Interesting Trena, I have another one in garden in memory of a lost one.
Its amazing how easy is to grow this tree and then it gives me twice a year, boxes of fruit per tree. My Argentinean family friends always receive a box per season, as they like this fruit very much but Americans are not really aware that is edible! Well I am not going to spread the bad words:)

Game is on you Trena.
