You know Trena, that is one very neat idea to be ready ahead of time.
By the way I guess this game is going in a right and positive direction. I am glad the way it is developing. I ran some part of the game with my son and he did enjoy, even saying he likes to share this with English teacher and class, as he found it adequately interesting (And must say its is hard to please this gentleyoungman).

As for this one, the easy way would be:

"When it rains, it pours"

and the harder (British) way might be:

"It never rains but it pours"

And I guess the German friends would say:

"Ein Unglück kommt selten allein."

mbkamrani 29-02-16 00:15

I am out of the game now ! I can not even guess what it would be ! ;)

mo

Tugboat 29-02-16 02:18

haha, good one Sassan, I knew it would be too easy.

back over to you again

Alright. Here is another easy (Hopefully, if Graham & Mo don't object):

Tugboat 29-02-16 12:30

hmmm, no idea! getting late here, will have another look tomorrow.

mbkamrani 29-02-16 14:34

 is my thought for this idea ! Sassan , will you please give us some idea?!

mo

sassan 29-02-16 16:44

Seems it was more difficult than what I though or may be I didn't do a good job in preparation.
Anyways here is the hint:
Hopefully its clear that the subject is water and there is communication between top and bottom/superficial and deep. Now look at the mood and behavior of each side and see if you can join them to make the proverb that also has to do with "Mood" and behavior pattern!
Also a hint for Mo in Persian but that may actually take you away from the answer, though meaning is the same:
از آن نترس که های و هوی دارد
از آن بترس که سر به توی دارد

mbkamrani 29-02-16 17:37

I think I got it in Persian , water under straw !
آب زیر کاه
But what it is in English I do not know yet !

Not exactly but you are getting very close and in right direction.

Tugboat 29-02-16 20:57

the only one I can think of about water is
still water runs deep

seems like it is just us two!!
try this one?

mbkamrani 01-03-16 00:00

Reminds me "Sweet Heart" ! .... Must be very difficult proverb for me ! ;)

mo

sassan 01-03-16 06:00

I can think of two different things:

1- Love Blind.
2- Love is blind.

Can't think of anything else except must admit of the very nice image and processing.

Absolutely no problem and nice of you to do so.

Well whenever I arrange a proverb/idiom, I think its the easiest of all but then you never know how it is taken and more over, anytime you know the answer to a puzzle, you know how easy it is. Problem is when answer is not know.

In any case, in your submission, I am puzzled if this has anything to do with the coming season? Something like "Spring is in the Air"?

Peter Waites 02-03-16 09:26

Sorry to be so long getting back. Yes you are right sassan "Spring in the Air" - wouldn't think so here today as it's snowing hard. Looking forward now to the next puzzle.

Sorry to hear that Peter. We have had an early Spring for past 2 weeks or so but news forecast a possible change of weather this Sunday and then my best wishes goes to the early blossoms that hopefully should not be affected with an unexpected cold front, well into the Spring. As such due to low rain our farmers are suffering and burning blossoms would be adding salt to wound.

Nice try and very timely work.

Here goes mine and this one might be harder in appearance than what it actually is:

Tugboat 02-03-16 21:58

I am thinking,
salt of the earth????

Excellent first try and you are in totally right direction but No.
By the way that White stuff is actually Snow and not salt or any other white thing ( :) ).
Hint: This proverb/idiom was name of a movie that was played by someone that you have seen most frequently on your TV screen, if you have watched the Oscar award ceremony 2016, last weekend (That is if you have not boycott Academy Awards for being too White:)

I thought this will stay up for a while but the way it goes, I guess this proverb may not last long!

Tugboat 10-03-16 04:14

this has been left for a while ,can't really think of anything for this..

what about, down under? or Roots?

50% is correct in this 2 words statement.
The proverb has 3 words and that is the missing 2 are 2nd and 3rd words.
Also pay attention to prior hint, that Chris Rock has a movie with the same title!

Is it easier now?

Gidders 10-03-16 16:41

Got to be this

Spot on Clive. Trena was very close.
Game is on you now.

Ok here you go. Shouldn't be too hard, but then they're all easy when you know the answer

All I can for sure is: "A very beautiful and well made image".
Nothing really pops out but there was an old Italian proverb:
L’acqua fa male e il vino fa cantare.
or
"Water hurts and wine makes you sing".

Not sure if that is the case here though.

Everyone, HELP please...

sassan 11-03-16 18:28

Or how about more simpler way of saying:

'Turn water into wine'?

Well here goes another one and I anticipate a rapid correct answer:

Tugboat 14-03-16 20:43

no idea really!

to take a stand?

Gidders 15-03-16 00:12

I think I know :) but as I've just done one I'll keep quiet for the the moment.

mbkamrani 15-03-16 04:17

I am thinking about it , do we use this proverb in our culture ?

sassan 15-03-16 05:41

Trena: May be the fault is on me, but I thought it is an easy one. But then you know better. Is always easy when answer is known.

Clive: Pretty sure you are right.

Mo: Yes. Go for it.

Peter Waites 15-03-16 10:00

I think the late great Otis Redding sang this and then remarked that he was a man of great experience. But I won't say because I don't have a puzzle ready.

mbkamrani 15-03-16 12:35

A man with powerful will is greater than or equal to all powers against him !
Or some thing like this ! .... ;)

mo

I know what you say Peter. Yet no problem if you don't have a puzzle to continue. Should you win and have no puzzle to continue, just announce right then, so others know that puzzle is open to a new one, and anyone else can continues with the game.

Mo you are totally in a right direction and analysis that should take you to the correct answer. Only now add this analogy you describe, into some Photography values! and equation:)

Peter Waites 15-03-16 16:42

Ok thanks sassan. I think it's "Actions speak louder than Words".
But If I'm right I don't have a follow up right now.
