I notice there are no test images from either 'previews' do Nikon hand out dummy bodies with no electronics proir to release?

Reading a report by someone who was at the presentation, they were able to take pictures but not take them away with them. Looks pretty good for the price bearing in mind most models drop fairly quickly to a 'street price'. If they'd made it too good it would have hit D200 sales I suppose. I think it might make a good companion for my D50 - using the D50 in situations where high ISO is needed as it excels there. I wonder if the image quality will actually be better than the D200? Using both the D50 and D70s at present I still think the D50 has the edge.

Rightly or wrongly (probably just down to size), I perceive it as a budget model, The D50 is currently priced at £325, so £700 looks expensive despite the sensor and other bits.

They seem to have removed the rrp of the D50 from the Nikon site but I seem to remember it was quite a bit above the £325 -£350 it now sells for - near £500 I think. Won't take long after that initial rush for the D80 to drop a bit - if they get the supplies right and it's possible to buy them, I'd expect it to quickly drop to £599 and then probably level off at the same sort of price as the D70s now stands at. It needs to have a fairly high rrp so on-line stores can sell it cheaper!
