Capture NX (Nikon Software)
"Appears" to be an upgrade, now version 1.01 ,available for download from Nikon Europe site.
regards Subzero |
Thanks for that. I just selected upgrade NX in my copy and received the following message....
This is to notify you that a new version of Capture NX version 1.0.1 is available for download. This version adds support for the Nikon D80 digital-SLR camera and includes fixes for some issues that occurred with Capture NX version 1.0. Please visit the download page and select the Capture NX Trial version 1.0.1 download for details and instructions on upgrading a full version of Capture NX 1.0 to version 1.0.1. I was hoping it would update itself as Capture 4 did but I just have to visit the download page an install trial again. |
Thanks for the ' heads up ' Subzero.
My version 1.0 works fine ( no bugs discovered yet ), so I will wait and see what a future upgrade may bring. Don |

After having to uninstall my non regional copy of NX I installed the 1.01 download. The most noticeable thing about this new version is the labelled images in the browser remain listed with non labelled images. This in my opinion is better as when they were placed at the bottom by label it was difficult to find an alternative of a shot already labelled. I believe labels are only available in a licenced copy of NX. Position of menus is still irritating and they keep moving and vanishing. I have processed two photos in 1.01 and as I process more and find anything different I will post.

Just installed this update, my antispyware program reports a possible trojan horse each time I run Capture NX ?? It looks as though it attempts to ring home if you are connected to the web!

My advise is do not upgrade to V1.01 as there is little difference but much more hassle. I will be writing to Nikon and expect v1.02 very soon. |
Foxy Bob,
   I can't believe those times. I have been going mad experimenting with control points, and nothing longer than 2 mins on a conversion. I lost the edit list once and had a cache problem once but other than that I have not had any problems, and am well impressed with NX. After that tale of doom I will not go for an upgrade for a bit. Maybe V1.4 :D Don |

Hi Stephen I had a feeling it was your computer rather than the NX v1.01 software that was causing your problem. I've used both versions without any hangups so far, in both cases rendering times were more than acceptable. It seems to me that somewhere in the background, your computer is busy doing something that's hogging your memory, antivirus software springs to mind, but Microsoft are notorious for ringing home to do things to your computer without your knowledge! I make sure all the Microsoft useless rubbish is disabled, especially Windows update, you can always re-enable it again if you really need to, though why you would I don't know? nirofo. |
Get yourself a decent PC Steve!
I donwloaded and tried NX 1.01 yesterday and found it quite nice, especially compared to Capture ONE. I could only use it on my old D100 NEF's. Oh, and standard JPEG of course with limited functionality due to not being RAW. There was some talk of it being able to process some of Canon's files but this so far appears to be incorrect. Westy |

Time for a D2X - if only it was as good as a 5D!!!!
:D |
I am surprised to find someone who believes NX is that good they are prepared to get a camera to suit for the software's RAW capability. I think the claim that NX can read other manufacturers files is true but in JPEG format only.

Lifted from the Nikon USA website, below shows differences between 1.00 and 1.01.

Thanks Foxy, I saw that this evening and will now upgrade.
