The site looks good to me - simple, uncluttered and easy to navigate. The photos are pretty impressive as well.

john crossley 16-06-07 18:58

It dosen't work for me, as it is just a link to your photos on another forum.
A personal website should be just that; personal. A place to show off your best 50 pictures, promote your latest assignment, etc.

Andy 16-06-07 19:33

I like the title though ;)

Canis Vulpes 16-06-07 22:42

I wonder what site it was based on.....

I think the title/banner needs to remain when linking photos from elsewhere. If done well guests may think they are still at your site.

It could also do with an 'about' and 'contact' pages to provide a more compete feel.

Take a look at my site for an example of these additional items, although I may do a redesign of mine shortly.

They are on my list of pages to do. Should be online within the next few weeks.

Put a couple of your absolute best photos on the landing page (but keep file size down for speed) You're a photographer, that's what your site is about... there should be evidence of that from the moment someone arrives.

cheers,
Andy

Good point that. I will do that as soon as i get a chance.

Andy 17-06-07 16:54

Also, this end anyway, the default width of the sidebar 'browse' area takes up too much of the screen, over a 1/3... possibly down to the width of some of the decriptions in the dropdown menu (notably 2006 airshows).

cheers,
Andy

I am aware of that problem. I will tackle that soon. All feedback is welcome and points like that help.

Wordart headings are so 1990's, Ollie. The side bar's taking up a lot of room considering the content's all squeezed up at the top. The whole navigation could do with a re-think and a re-focus. try to keep people in your site without continually opening new windows to elsewhere.

You refer to "personally usage", you might want to correct that. In the paragraph about buying prints it seems as if there's a link missing to somewhere where you can buy them.

The link to OW 6th May doesn't bring up any results - it previously brought up a Pou du Ciel at Stondon.

robski 17-06-07 18:48

Sorry Ollie

I must agree the impact of the home page does not tempt me to look further.

ollieholmes 17-06-07 21:58

Thank you all for the feedback. I hear it and i will be working on it this week. Photos will be added to the right hand side along with a banner and i will sort out the left hand coloum so it is not so wide. If i get a chance this week i will be adding about me, clients and kit list pages.

Wheeler,
There is a link missing there to direct people elsewhere. That i will sort out this week to. The Old Warden 6th May Link needs removing now.

Wheeler 17-06-07 22:11

Ollie, you also need to sort out your photobox site re pricing. get a piece of A4 paper and a ruler and mark out the photo sizes you're selling. This will show you what's wrong with the following scale of fees:

6x4 - £0.18
12x10 - £5.23
8x6 - £7.00
A4 - £2.10

Thank you for pointing that out. I will fix that this week and add a link to my website.

Inspired by Ollie's endeavours, I had an unused domain name wasting away, so I thought i'd activate it this evening.
Andy Bright - Aviation Photography ... bit of a laugh really, may as well be Andy Bright - Brain Surgery ;)

ollieholmes 31-07-08 00:54

I am using a hosting company, this one to be precise:
www.servage.net
I have built the website myself and continue to update it myself.
