How to create that falling droplet picture?
greenbunion has a nice series of these falling fluid drops with good attraction of attention recently; Example.
Many are interested to know how it is done and probably take their pie share of it. This is one simple and easy to follow instructions to achieve the effect. LINK Have fun everyone and lets see what you can come with. |
Thanks Sassan for a useful link.

Does the bowl need to be filled 100% it not that clear in the write up in the link. I must have a go but would like to be clear in my mind what to do. |
Foxy;
I believe the shallower the depth, the larger is your opened circle. Its whether you prefer the crown or a single emerging drop. I you see GB's nice image, due to very much depth (Of aquarium that is very wisely chosen), he doesn't have much of diameter of raised edge, but he gets quite a nice singe droplet raise, instead of a crown. So do your experiments. |

Note the on-camera flash and fill-in lights left and right. The red disk is for an experiment in coloured splashes - very shallow to get the "crown" effect. My wife will get the dining room back in time for Christmas.:D |
Thanks for that Greenbunion.
Food for thought.... |
I've jus posted a picture after seeing greenbunions examples. Wish I'd seen this first as I couldn't get the crown effect at all.

Something I must try.

As an addition also use a drop of inkjet ink, it can make a world of difference to your water splash.

I knew this thread was somewhere. Thanks Sassan.
Looks like milk gives a good splash. 70 frames taken for 4 pics :eek: . Think I can seriously reduce that. Andy may notice that although I am a ' young digi-whatsit ' I shoot as if I was still using film. D2X shutter will probably outlast me. :D :D :D Don |
