Personal Current Gallery Favourite.

For the background to this thread see my post in WPF Censorship - POTW

A snippet of that post here ............ This would allow any member to post a link to ONE IMAGE that they feel worthy of note from " The Most Recent Photos " in any of the catagories. I realize that images in some catagories will span quite some time but hey-ho you have to start somewhere if this is what you want. Thereafter individual member submissions should be at least one week apart.
There does however need to be one rule. Respect for the posters Critique or No Critique before posting any comment as to that selection. The odds are that these choices could be as contraversial is POTW.
It would be up to the person chosing the image if they wanted to expand on the reasons for their choice.

My nomination as my current favourite is

Don, I like this idea.

Having been through the last seven days postings I quite quickly got down to a choice between two. Now it is sooooo tempting to cheat and post links to both (and I'm sure that someone will before too long ;) ), but on the basis that sitting on the fence hurts your bum

My nomination is

Don Hoey 14-03-08 19:20

Thanks for joining in Clive and refraining from cheating by posting 2 links. I viewed the voting on this months comp which gave me the idea. It will be interesting to see the width of the spectrum of images chosen.

You must have been reading my mind Don..I almost beat you to it..anyway..here's my choice for this last week..http://www.worldphotographyforum.com...68&limit=last7
I thought it was very atmospheric, could almost smell the aroma; however I agree with some of the critique about cropping the bottom 1/5th. Good call on the thread & a shot I really liked..

Cheers Clive :)

Good idea Don! I had to go with http://www.worldphotographyforum.com...38&limit=last7
The treatment suits, the person gives a sense of size and the angle is great...
i mentioned the vehicles in the original comments but ive over come then now :)

robski 15-03-08 01:06

There are a couple I would list but John Crossley's Chapel image if I was hard pushed and had to pick one. Great wide angle work and Post Processing.

Gidders 15-03-08 01:37

Jamie

Interesting that you should choose that - when I said I had come down to two - it was your shot and John's shot that were the two

After trawling my preferred areas of landscape and seascape, am very impressed with this one of Deefer's
http://www.worldphotographyforum.com...hp?photo=29312
(having penalised Mike by 0.7543289 points after a calculation too abstruse to bother you with or his Tatton Park might have been in it)

Derekb 15-03-08 10:11

I previously chose mine and John's Saltaire Chapel is still my selection.

Don Hoey 21-03-08 20:02

Tough choice but ................

As my first choice for this week is Digital Art, which is way beyond my level of understanding but not appreciation, I am going to break my own rule of ONE image and also post a link to my second favorite.

Hard choices this week Clive.

Al's and your choice were in my final cut.

Derekb 22-03-08 20:43

Well I'm going for Buccaneer's shot of the Suzuki 1000. Anyone who has ever tried this will know how difficult it is to do well and this image is simply superb.
http://www.worldphotographyforum.com...1&limit=recent

This is one of the reason's I don't think the shot of the week works. This shot would not even raise an eyebrow with most people because they have no idea just how good it is technically.

Christine 23-03-08 22:01

Derek,I agree, have seen the shot, technically, spot on.These bikes are moving at up tp 200 mls per hr,so to take a shot of this calibre is superb.

Gidders 24-03-08 11:16

You're right Derek. There is a guy in our camera club who does this sort of thing and you forget how difficult it is to get the bike sharp and the blur in the background to give the impression of speed.

Jiffers 24-03-08 12:59

Christine, Derek and Clive (ah, Pete & Dud for those old enough to recall the act) - - - - you are all right in mentioning the huge degree of difficulty in taking images like this motorcycle ....but, I really wouldn't want the group's possible lack of all-round photographic skill and knowledge to stop us all from having what is, I believe, a bit of fun which highlights some photographer's work and may bring to us an image which, up to then, we may have overlooked as the gallery fills up throughout the week.

Just my 6-penn'orth . .. (ah, tanners, eh?) . . . .

OK the reminiscence class is now closed :-)
Cheers,
jiffers

This one stood out for me this week; just pipping Mrs Y's reflection shot..

Christine 29-03-08 21:39

Yes,Al,I have just looked at this shot, stunning image.Lighting is superb.Simple image, but very striking.

Gidders 07-04-08 07:35

Difficult choice again this week but came down to this one in the end

http://www.worldphotographyforum.com...hp?photo=29983

Simple superb

Derekb 22-04-08 07:09

I'm taking the 4th amendment, as the whole business just doesn't make sense to me.

Gidders 22-04-08 07:32

I see I've been slacking as I didn't post my current favourite from last weeks offerings. I was a toss up between Jamie's smoking kills and this

http://www.worldphotographyforum.com...hp?photo=30220

Stunning Derek

Gidders 22-04-08 07:34

And for this week I've got to go with Rudra's beautiful friend, Poonam

Thank's Clive, but I still feel it's not a patch on Nigel's bird shot:

You are too modest Derek - they are both great shots but for me yours is more dynamic.... which is why I chose it :D

jamieZ740 03-05-08 01:26

mine is this http://www.worldphotographyforum.com...70&limit=last7
at the moment.. unsure why or how it was done, but its just differeny and abstracty for me this week

J

Derekb 03-05-08 11:10

OK I'm going for wildlife again. A lovely image of a great subject, nothing phoney or manipulated about this one - it stands head and shoulders above anything else I've seen this week.
