I've just finished building my new online shop.

Anybody care to take a look and let me have some feedback please?

Nice clean appearance, very professional looking.

Not that many images to chose from (4 in architecture and buildings) but this is still early days. The street photography section is good.

And of course a mention of this forum in the links. Nice one

Not bad Chunshine, not bad ..... I agree with John, clean and professional looking, easy to navigate. I might be tempted with larger thumbnails and a slideshow presentation when you have a lot more images.

Thanks Andy, I am in the process of loading an addon to the cart that will allow a lightbox to be loaded and then view the images, watch this space :)

Hi Andy,

I have loaded on the slimbox mod for zencart for viewing the larger pictures. Have a look and see what you think.

I don’t suppose it will, Alan, I was thinking of making a site up not for selling but more like a blog but I just don’t have the time.

I use pixelpost and wordpress.

I've got 2 so I could see what they were like.

I have to say if you've got no time you could use pixelpost as it's really simple to setup and upload pictures. Have a look here http://www.chunshine.biz/photoblog/

Looks just fine to me Alan. I agree with the comments from John and Andy and note our responses, so nothing critical or constructive to add. I wish you well.

Thanks, Alan. I will look into both pixelpost and wordpress, I have a server so one of these might just do me.

Wordpress is good. I keep an IT related technical blog on there but I don't think is the best place for a photo related blog. Don't know of pixelpost

Thanks, John. I found that my Cpanel already has Wordpress and Coppermine Photo Gallery installed so I might give Coppermine a try first.

Alan you asked for opinions on your site!

I do a lot with websites and to be honest the zen cart way is not realy the right way to go about selling your pictures in my opinion, you would be far better running a gallery style website and intergrating a paypal shopping cart or worldpay one as they both have all the tools free on thier sites.
The zen approach has that template frame look which realy does your pictures no justice.
If it was myself and i had to keep running zencart then i would alter my table or change template to fluid fill which will open the whole site up to full size of your customers browser window.
If it was built using your webhosts free options the take a look at osCommerce which will also run on the older php servers free and you can easily transfer your files accross using css export / import and will give you a more WYSIWYG working space.

Alan, It looks better, but I'm no expert on setting up a web site. If you understand what Gaz is saying, then perhaps a pm to him might be more helpful than I can be. All I can say is that what you have done up to now is a definite improvement.

chunshine 21-01-10 17:24

Hi Gaz,

Thanks for your feedback.

I agree that the template is boxy but it is clean and people know just where they are and what to do. Making it fluid can make certain things look distorted so that's not an option in zen that I would want to use.

I have built a few gallery style sites in the past but never felt to happy with them. Can you post some links to the ones you have done so I can have a look or pm me the links if you prefer.

Cheers

Thanks Andy,

I am looking at a few things that Gaz suggested but at the moment I haven't found anything that I like. I will have another look at oCommerce to see if the WYSIWYG that Gaz mentioned is a better way to go.

Cheers

Alan
