I'd say start up a new challenge :)

Arthur53 01-02-12 22:32

I would be happy for you to start a new challenge.

mbkamrani 02-02-12 03:08

Go for it Trena

& how about, in future, in the event of a tie, who ever posted their image in the thread first, becomes the winner?

Susan Green 02-02-12 04:52

How about in future, in the event of tie, who ever posted his image in the thred last, becomes the winner? Why actually time of posting should decide the winner?:)

Susan

Tugboat 02-02-12 05:38

I will think up something and start a new thread...we will have to come up with an idea for the next tie...everyone put on their thinking caps.

Gidders 02-02-12 08:27

I suggested that it it should be earlier poster for three reasons: -
  1. It encourages people to get get cracking and get their entries posted where as the reverse could encourage everyone to hold off posting until that last minute
  2. Some auctions work like that (dare I say ebay among others) when there is a tied bid - who ever bid earliest wins
  3. Later posters have the possible advantage of seeing other peoples work which may give them ideas

Unless someone can come up with a better idea?

Peter Waites 02-02-12 09:42

Seems rational Clive. I could livw with that:)

Arthur53 02-02-12 10:27

I as I see it there are lots of ways to decide a tie.
1, Extend the voting time by another day or more.
2, Start a new poll from scratch.
3, New poll with just the tied photos.
4, Mods toss a coin.
5, First posted wins.

Most be other ideas as well but I like the first post idea as Gidders said above. Plus think its simple and quick and gets a result first time. As long as everyone knows then post early sounds like a good way to me as any other way has advantages and disadvantages. .

Tugboat 02-02-12 12:06

I am happy with Gidders idea too, it will save a lot of messing about, not as though we are winning prizes or anything, just a bit of fun....I am going to be minding 2 of our grandsons during the next challenge & probably won't have a lot of time to mess about with fixing up tied voting...
Hope the next Challenge gets a few entries, it is hard to think of ideas to appeal to everyone.

Susan Green 02-02-12 18:28

I posted later because I also have to work having 7 ha of agricultural land. Not in mood for photograhy every day as sometimes I am really tired. This, I mean "photography", is supposed to be an ART and has nothing to do with bidding on Ebay!!! I did not copy anybody's idea, I do not know why Clive suggests this.:)

Susan

Peter Waites 02-02-12 19:19

I didn't read anything personal into Clive's post Susan. I think he was just giving reasons in a general way for his suggestion.

Susan Green 02-02-12 19:34

It seems to me a bit, Peter.

I also think that, as any other competition, it should be anonymous (without knowing the authors of entries)

Susan

Tugboat 02-02-12 21:34

Susan, I don't think Clive was aiming that comment at you, he was just generalizing.
We need to sort out something though as all these ties are a pain!!!! I don't care if it is 1st or last posted,or if someone has another idea,or we just stick with another vote and drag it out a bit longer...it would help if more people would vote, but not everyone is interested in the challenge. This is supposed to be fun,I hope we can get a few entries into the next challenge and get an outright winner.

Susan Green 02-02-12 23:08

Maybe, Trena, those in tie can decide between themselves (as did we) who wants to set another challenge,
or winners will set together another challenge
or eventually moderator will decide who or set a challenge himself.

I still think the competition should be anonymous.

Susan

Gidders 03-02-12 02:06

I agree with Susan about the desirability of making the competition anonymous... but I cant think of a way of easily achieving that :(

mbkamrani 03-02-12 02:46

What about common winners? :) then they decide about the next subject

dsmith10 15-02-12 14:26

Some great photos - cant wait to get my new camera so I can start shooting some pics.
