Any one else own a Canon G10?

Just bought (monday 27/07/09) the Canon G10 as a camera to take to Jersey in September instead of lugging my DSLR and numerous lenses around the island. I thought it would be the ideal camera for holiday snaps that are a bit more than snaps. Well to say I am disappointed would be an under statement. The noise levels even at 80 ISO are terrible and the picture is not even that sharp.
Does anyone else have one and if so what is your opinion of it?

I was thinking of getting one for reasons of portability too - maybe I'll look at some others! The write-ups were generally good, but I'd like to hear some hands-on reviews too.

I haven't got one but a couple of our camera club members have for the reasons that you outlines and they rave about it, as do all the reviews- sounds like you got a duff one - I suggest take it back

I reckon there's either something wrong with the camera or the way it's set up... I picked up a G9 (which is very similar) earlier this year and absolutely love it, sure it doesn't handle noise as well as a DSLR but at low ISOs (upto 200 or even 400) but at base ISO the image quality is stunning. A good friend bought a G10 at the same time and I know that he's very happy with it. Can you post a sample image so we can see what it's like.

Here is a sample image taken with the G10. Thanks for your replies.

What were your settings? A bigger image for us to look at would help too.

I have had a Canon G10 since 2009 and it has always produced excellent results. It is still going strong and used regularly.
